Shana Smith is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. She has over 25 years experience working with children, adolescents and families. Shana has a passion for working with at-risk youth and has worked extensively in the juvenile justice system and foster care system. Daniel Holford has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist since 1986.  He is also a licensed minister.  He is a graduate of Pepperdine University Graduate School of Psychology and Vanguard University of Southern California.  He has taught at National University Fresno, University of LaVerne and at numerous educational and church community seminars.  He has consulted with numerous churches on church based recovery ministries, having launched one that has been in operation for over 20 years.  He provides marital and relationship therapy, works with victime of crime, depression and anxiety, and family issues.  He began the counseling center in July of 1993.

Kathie Mittman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has been with TMG since 2003.  She is a graduate of Fresno State University and the Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary.  She has conducted classes about marriage issues at her church.  She provides marital and relationship therapy, works with adults and adolescents aged 15 and older who are victims of abuse, depression, anxiety and family issues.  She provides pychotherapy at the counseling center in Visalia and in Porterville.

MaryAnn Newsom has a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology with an emphasis in Child Development. Her Masters in is in Marriage and Family Therapy. MaryAnn is also a Certified Autism Spectrum Disorder Clinical Specialist. Her primary clinical orientation is Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. Ruth Perry, AMFT, NCC

Ruth Perry is a Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT). Ruth earned her M.Ed. in Couples, Marriage & Family Counseling at William & Mary where she enjoyed focusing on family therapy. Her B.S. in Psychology was earned at Virginia Tech. She has experience working with children, adults, and families from her past internships at the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board and New Horizons Family Counseling Center. She has also worked as a Social Worker at a foster care agency in Tulare County. One of her most beloved volunteering opportunities was with a therapeutic riding program which worked with disabled children and their families. Other areas of interest include working with military service members and their families, eating disorders and body image concerns, and maternal mental health. Timothy Franks, Trainee

Tim Franks is a Marriage & Family Therapy Trainee completing his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Clinical Counseling through Touro University.  Tim has worked for over 20 years in the fire service and holds a bachelor’s degree in Fire Science from Purdue University and is a licensed EMT.  Tim has experience working with people suffering with grief and loss, as well as those dealing with traumatic events.  He also has experience working with youth as a Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist and is a CISM team member on both the local and state level.  Tim has a passion to continue to help people navigate through difficult times and achieve the things that are important to them.

Ashley received her bachelors in psychology from California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI) and is currently working towards a masters degree in professional clinical counseling and marriage and family therapy from Umass Global University (formerly known as Brandman University). Timothy is a current graduate student pursuing his master’s in Clinical Counseling at Grand Canyon University where he obtained his Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2021. He is a dedicated and compassionate practicum student specializing in Clinical Counseling. With a lifelong connection to our community and a background in the military, he brings a unique perspective and skills to his work. Having served in the military for several years, he understands the challenges and sacrifices that individuals face.
